Secret Maryo, Free Super Mario World Open Source

Filed under: consolegames — Nick @ 8:40 pm

It’s the secret Maryo chronicles, the open source version of Super Mario World. If you’ve missed the SNES version, here is the windows version developed by programmers and if you know programming you yourself can add to the Chronicles of Secret Maryo Chronicles.

In-Game Editor
The best feature is Secret Maryo’s In-Game Editor. It’s like building your open Super Mario World.
“Activated with the F8 key in the game. You can insert any graphic file as a background or sprite in the game. Many standard graphics like hedges and ground sprites are included. You can insert enemies, change the player start position on the level, insert active Sprites, and create half-massive Sprites which the Player can jump through, but can not fall through.
- Global level effects since 0.98.1.
- Camera limits and multiple Background Images since 0.99.2.
- Falling Platforms and Invisible/Empty Boxes since 0.99.4.
- Ghost Blocks since 0.99.5.
- Massive Moving Platforms since 0.99.7.
- Text Boxes and Warp entries since 1.0.”

Free Games Online with GameTap

Filed under: consolegames — Nick @ 12:10 am

GameTap takes old games and makes them new with their pay to play service. But do we have to pay to play the lineup on Game Tap?

Free Lineup of Games Online
Every months GameTap rotates its lineup of free games. This month they have titles like Hitman and Street Fighter completely free, that is until the expiration date comes. This is a great way to catchup on some old classics each month. The good side? Each month you’ll get a new lineup of games. Hopefully you get sick of them before they expire.

Free NES Online Emulator

Filed under: consolegames — Nick @ 3:10 am

Sitting bored in the office? Now you can waste more time and play NES games online for free.

Play Your Favorite Game Online
Virtualnes.com lets you play all your favorite NES games online for free without downloading any software or games. Simply choose your favorite game from their long list of NES game and start playing.

One thing I don’t like about the system is that there is no way to full screen. The games have to be played on a small window within your browser. Maybe that makes it easier to hide the fact that you are playing NES games online rather than being productive?

At least keyboard support is enabled, making game play easy. Otherwise they also offer an option to buy an old NES controller to make the experience more authentic.
