Open Office Software, better than Microsoft Office?

Filed under: office software — Nick @ 11:10 pm

Why shell out big dollars for Microsoft Office when a great alternative already exists and for free. Open Office is free just because it is open source.

What is included in Open Office?
Writer (like word), drawing (paint?), spreadsheets (excel), presentation (power point), and information (access). So you get imitations of all the products currently offered in Microsoft Office for free. Can you open Microsoft Office documents in Open Office? Yes, you can and vice versa.

Compatibility?
You’ll happy when you notice that both Office software function similarly. The layouts are similar enough so that if you know how to use Microsoft Office, you won’t notice the difference.

Free Online Word Processor

Zoho.com offers Word Processing for free without any need to download any software on your computer. Now you can write documents right on the internet.

Benefits
This works great when you are sitting on a computer without any word processor. The system is easy to use and offers you to save your documents right on their website without any need to download them. My laptop is already short on hard drive space, so I have no problem now deleting Microsoft Word from my computer and using Zoho instead.

If you are trying to create a professional document, Zoho offers a variety of templates for creating great looking, resumes, documents, or even flyers.

On the one hand I found the interface a bit confusing to use at the start, but on the other hand the interface of the Free Online Word Processor is similar to Microsoft word. Even with this familiar interface it may take awhile until you’ve figured everything out.
