Is Blogging a Hobby or Full Time Career?

Tuesday, June 16th, 2009

When I started out blogging it ended up as a hobby.  I didn’t have any major expectation for my blogs, just an outlet for creativity and a hobby I could do in my spare time.  However with any hobby, I make it my mission to improve at it.  For blogging this meant getting more traffic, increasing my seo strategies until my blogging was no longer a hobby but  rather a full time career.

Since then I’ve had to expand to other hobbies since Blogging isn’t as much of a hobby anymore.  Now I find myself Djing, traveling, and learning languages to help pass the time.

You realize that your hobby isn’t a hobby when you can’t treat it as just something fun you do in your spare time but rather something you use for survival and isn’t just fun and games anymore.

Why I Love, Hate Google

Sunday, May 31st, 2009

I have a love / hate relationship with Google for a number of reason.  I love the fact that Google pays me more than enough more to survive off of, but I hate the fact that Google has little or no customer service for Adsense publishers.  It feels like Google gets a little arrogant in the fact that it still dominates the advertiser industry on the internet.  While Google will go leaps and bounds for advertisers, in the publisher side of things, they seem to care a whole lot less.

When it comes to most relationships, as long as they pay you well, like Google, you will be willing to look past a few things that they do.  Even the United States if full of allies that are highly the effect of the massive power the USA yields in terms of GPD, Net Income, etc.  But what happens when the money runs out?  Will people still let Google’s policies slide?

While I hate a lot of things Google does, I still gotta love them, cause I get to travel around the world, and work solely on the internet thanks to their little ad program…

Blogging Mistakes Made Often By Bloggers

Friday, April 3rd, 2009

Since I’ve been blogging over a year and a half I’ve come to realize some usual mistakes by bloggers made when blogging. Often these blogging mistakes hinter growth and progress for many bloggers and leave them stuck in a no growth zone.

Blogging Mistake 1 – Claiming to be an expert in something you aren’t an expert in. So many people make blog about earning money, yet they themselves earn barely anything. The same goes for any subject.

Blogging Mistake 2 – Procrastination, not blogging day to day. Some people get so excited to start that they post a lot the first week then start barely postinng thereafter.

Blogging Mistake 3 – Looking to get rich quick. So many people go into blogging thinking it is going to be a way to simply get rich immediately. Rather than enjoying what they do, they focus only on getting rich. Many readers can discover this quickly in your writing, that you don’t enjoy it, and often these people give up quickly, since most don’t meet their get rich expectations.

Blogging Mistake 4 – Not enough promotion or advertising. There is more to blogging than just writing posts. The otherside of working is promoting, guest posting, and getting your name out there so that your blog can be found outside of search engines.

These blogging tips and mistakes to avoid should get your better in the right direction on what blogging really is about, and that it really isn’t some fast way to wealth.

Best Job in the World is Blogging

Thursday, April 2nd, 2009

With what other jobs out there besides blogging could be the best job in the world? Blogging is simply the best job in the world, in my opinion for a number of reasons.

1. Freedom to work when you want.
2. High pay for little work.
3. Work wherever you want.
4. Have your opinions read by thousands of people.

There are downsides to blogging too however, though it might seem like the best job in the world, you also have to keep in mind, that it can be time demanding at times. I blog everyday no matter how I feel, sick or well. Blogging also can be risky. Not everyone can make huge money with a blog. It takes time an effort, something not everyone has time for.

But, in any case, to me blogging is the best job in the world. I can travel and live where I want when and since I enjoy writing this has been the perfect job in my opinion.
