Finding a Hostel on a Saturday

Friday, November 27th, 2009

If you go hostel to hostel while traveling, I find that the worst day to find a hostel is always Saturday. For some reason Saturday is the day hostels are almost always booked out. Sometimes even a Saturday hostel becomes booked out up to a week in advance.

Most likely Saturday is the day even people locally in the country book out hostels because of reasons like 1) A football match 2) Late night partying 3) Tourist hotspot with not enough hostels

Usually finding a place during the week for hostels has never been a problem, but Saturdays, finding a hostel can be chaos. Don’t fear, there is always sites like couchsurfing.com or you could book an overnight train and just use Saturday nights for traveling.

How to Live Without a Personal Computer

Saturday, August 8th, 2009

After my laptop broke, I was in despair wondering how I would get along without my own personal computer.  Though it was hard at first, it seemingly became easier as time went by.  Live without a personal computer is doable if you have the right tools to do it.

How I Live Without a Personal Computer
Some of the tools I use now are 1) an external hard drive for saving all the data I need. 2) a cell phone with wifi for checking my websites and chatting with friends.  With these two tools, its easier to not miss my laptop computer.  I can even watch movies on my cellphone if I wish.  In many ways my cellphone can be my computer, minus the ability to move a mouse which does make things harder.

I spend many hours on friends computers, in internet cafes, and on my cellphone.  Sure it can be a pain, but it can be freeing.

What Would You Do Without a Computer
I realized after my computer was gone how hard it was to live without it.  Most of my entertainment is tied up in my computer.  This includes movies, music, phone calls, chatting, work, the list goes on.  One little device can do so much, and without it, it’s like losing your swiss army knife of connectivity.

This brings me the question.  If the internet went down around the world, could everyone cope?

How to Make Money With Twitter and Sponsored Tweets

Wednesday, August 5th, 2009

Izea has taken the idea of PayPerPost to a new level.  THis time they are trying to help you make money with your twitter account.  Your posts get sponsored on your twitter account and you get paid for it.  Now it’s pay per tweet…  Just like PayPerPost, all Tweets must be 100% disclosed and are done with an engine that automatically adds a tag like brought to you by Izea.

Reasons Why Sponsored Tweets are Better Than Sponsored Posts
With Sponsored Posts you always had the worry that you could lose your pagerank because Google is not the biggest fan of people who use PayPerPost.  I ran into this problem in the past after writing a few PayPerPost posts.

Finally you have a way tp monetize that twitter feed you have without worrying about any penalties.  Too bad I’ve not pushed myself to actually start tweeting.  Maybe now is my chance?

The Best Way to Grow Blog Traffic

Saturday, June 27th, 2009

Yaro Starak has been growing his blog traffic through a method he calls “Impact Marketing Techniques”. The techniques have allowe him to bring all kinds of traffic to his six figure income blog. Yaro runs an online blog course for becoming a better blogger and has uploaded a number of videos. To his credibility he does run a six figure blog. While I do find his idea credible, I also think there is a different method for everyone that works. What he recommends as one of his best impact marketing techniques is releasing a free report.

A recent promotion that was done for SampleADay, one of my other websites was a condom giveaway at a San Diego Festival. Each coondom was attached with a logo for sampleaday costing around 1.6 cents per physical impression. Will this grow my Blog Traffic in a good way? We will find out. Trial and error is one of the easiest ways to find out what works and doesn’t. Don’t worry about failing because once you hit the right method you will reap the rewards.
