I cant watch what a crappy link only for UK residents

You CAN watch ITV.COM streaming TV and archives fromn outside of the UK. There are several ways.

      You can use :

      - an open proxy (lists published all over the net)
      - TOR (The Onion Router) set to one hop (or two, as many exit nodes won’t allow single hop) with strict exit nodes (see the config file) set to a list of fast UK servers

ITV only checks ONCE if you’re in the UK. This means you only need proxy/TOR to get the address of the video resource… after that, you can stream directly to your non-uk computer.

Finally, you can do what I did. No bouncing your IP at all. Just firefox+greasemonkey … a simple monkey script is all that is required to convert all of the various types of video links on the page from javascript/html into a direct link.

There are a hundred methods. I watch BBC, ITV and 4oD without any fuss or problems from the canary islands.

But it really isn’t necessary except for the ’specials’ … uknova and tvtorrents are two sites which ‘cap’ all of the TV shows according to members demand. UKNova is actually faster than the broadcasting companies servers and lets me download TV at around 90% of my 10MBit SDSL connection.

      Sorry for the double post…

I’d just like to mention that ‘uknova’ has FAR better video quality than getting your TV from BBCOnline/ITV/C4oD… which makes the broadcasters services obsolete.

Also, for C4oD you should realise that C4oD actually uses a P2P program called Kontiki which turns your machine into a permanent media server for others and will quickly max out your bandwidth (if you’re unlucky enough to have a monthly capped connection)

Never install C4oD as you don’t need it. Armed with the keys from C4oD there is software which will give you access to C4’s kontiki resources without turning your machine into a bandwidth eating drone.

Okay, hope that’s helped some of you.

      Hi Gary,
I’m new to this, got the grease monkey plugin thing, but can you tell me the name of the script and/or where I can get it so I can watch British TV from overseas?

    9. simon Says:

Hi Garry would you kindly advise the software which will provides access to C4’s kontiki resources without turning my machine into a bandwidth eating drone
