If you speak German, yet you don’t live in Germany, you might be wondering how to watch German TV Online from wherever you live.  When I studied German I also found it useful to watch German TV Online as a way to practice what German I had learned.

Record and play all your favorite German tv shows.  Using their TV recorder, you setup the recorder for the time in the future that you want the show recorded.  Once the show has aired and been recorded, you can download it to your hard drive.

Record  hours of German television for free.  What I like about this site is that your shows get recorded, but you don’t have to download them to watch them. They stream straight from the site.  With the free trial, you only get 2 hours of saved recorded programming and each program can be at max 30 mins long.  There is a paid option, but for $10 per month you can get 10 hours of recording.  Essentially that means 10 hours of stored programming.

Zattoo
Zattoo offers live German programming, but you have to live in Europe to use it.  I tried getting it to work back in the US, but finding a proxy for German or Switzerland that actually works is next to impossible.
