blinkx BBTV launches as a new application for watching online tv. BBTV sets out to “fuse” TV and other video with the Web. BBTV links what you’re watching with relevant information on the Internet. You can further learn about the online tv you’re watching, when you’re watching it.

The download of Blinx is small, 0.5 MB, and is available for free. While Blinx doesn’t have any plans to charge customers in the future, it does want to expand toward more premium channels while at the same time increasing it’s current free selection. Will this just be another Joost?

Clickable Video
A unique feature of blinkx BBTV is the ability to be able to click videos to find out further information. Users can click on words in a speech track to find out more about a person, object, location, within the video.
