RootClip lets audience finish an online video. RootClip starts off the story, but leaves the online video’s story open ended.
Users submit 60-second videos that tell the next chapter in that story. The audience votes for their favorite, and the winner becomes part of the official film.
This is a great example of collaborative film making. Rather than telling you what to expect, you get a say in the video and get to finish an online video yourself, or at least vote for you favorite ending. For an incentive, Rootclip gives winners from each chapter a $500 Visa gift card.
About the Creators
Kevin Antoine and Erik Luchauer, who both work for Scripps Interactive Newspaper Group (and are both brothers in-law) wrote up the idea and and gave it to Scripps Entrepreneurial Ventures. For their luck, the venture gave them $100,000 to start the idea.
