Veoh Ends Viral Video Show Online

The show Viral isn’t cutting it for Veoh who is ended their viral video show.  One main reason would be their low amount of views to the show.  According to Veoh, “Now it’s probably averaging maybe less than 100, to around 700 views — so not a whole lot of traction,” she said. “It wasn’t getting as much viewership without the promotion.”

In order to cut down on the bill and increase profits, it’s Viral show wasn’t even properly monetized, ending up being more of a loss than a gain, Veoh is even blocking access to the site from all but it’s most-trafficked countries.

Veoh isn’t the only one making cuts, Seesmic du Jour another inhouse production from Seesmic also just canceled it’s series. (They’ve got nice French accents.)

With an end to their own in house entertainment these videos sites will be less focused on promoting their own inhouse material and just more interested in encouraging users to submit their own videos and promoting those. It’s a whole lot cheaper than generating your own material and shows.
