When the writers strike hit writers could no longer write for hollywood, but many like Josh Wheaton turned toward the web to create their own content. Doctor Horrible’s Sing-A-Long Blog was the result of getting together to take a stab at a web series, with $100,000 in investment. The result? Doctor Horrible’s Sing-A-Long Blog became a server crashing success with 200,000 hits per hour crashing servers.
Doctor Horrible’s Sing-A-Long Blog is still available for free online via Hulu, but users may opt for buying the series on iTunes, with each episode costing $1.99 or the whole thing is available for $3.99.
We hope the sucess of Doctor Horrible’s Sing-A-Long Blog will convince more production studios to release their content directly on the internet.

Its not too surprising that Joss Wheaton had a successful sing-a-long during the writer’s strike. He’s seems like the type to keep busy and he did mention with a certain amount of passion about how he loved musicals when asked about the Buffy episode “Once More with Feeling.†I had no idea how multi-talented some folks in Hollywood are. I suppose if \Kevin Spaceycan sing as well as he does, why not James Marsters? His did do a mad brilliant audio book narration for Jim Butcher’s Stormfront
