Why can’t we watch Hulu or YouTube on our Wii system? The main reason is because Wii lacks Flash 9. Without Flash 9, no one can use their Wii browser to watch Hulu. There has already been a petition going around on the internet begging Nintendo to update the Wii browser to a version with Flash 9 support rather than Wii browsers current Flash 7.
With Flash 7 most users find it hard to use their Wii to view most video sites, since many require the upgrade to Flash 9. Opera which has it’s browser also on Mobile Phones had a similar problem until the new Windows Browser Sky Fire was released allowing Flash 9 on Mobile Phones.
YouTube works using the homebrew hack released for the Wii as well as the current Opera software.
The PS3 will get the first Hulu support with the beta version of PlayOn. “PlayOn enables consumers who own a PLAYSTATION 3, Xbox 360, or HP MediaSmart TV to watch Internet video from sites including Hulu, CBS, YouTube, ESPN and more on their television. We have just released PlayOn Beta. Netflix support is just down the road, and the fully featured release will be coming shortly! ” You can sign up to get the beta for your Ps3 at MediaMall
