Skyfire beta is over as now anyone can watch Hulu one their Windows Mobile Smart Phone or symbian phone. Hulu on your phone is finally possible with SkyFire the mobiles browser that enables the latest version of flash.
Skyfire does not allow you not only to watch Hulu on your phone, but any flash site, probably even FOX.com, NBC.com. Not only is Skyfire great for video, but music as well. Finally music sites are available in their original format on your phone. Finally isten to sites like last.fm.
Laptop Magazine did a test between the current available browsers, Opera, Safari, and Skyfire to see which browser performs the fastest on a smartphone. The tests yielded astonishing results:
| Browser | NYT.com | ESPN.com | HULU.com | Netvibes.com | Flash | AJAX |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Skyfire Beta | 6 (sec) | 8 (sec) | 9 (sec) | 4 (sec) | Yes | Yes |
| Opera 9.5.1 Beta | 60 (sec) | 59 (sec) | 28 (sec) | 44 (sec) | No | Yes |
| Safari | 29 (sec) | 28 (sec) | 33 (sec) | 54 (sec) | No | Yes |
Skyfire was up to 10 times faster on some sites, and was the only phone browser to support Hulu. In fact both of the other browsers did not support flash at all. This makes it difficult to watch Hulu and YouTube on those browsers.
As you can see in the video demo, flash for sites like Hulu works great on your phone using Skyfire
If you don’t live in the USA you might need to use a proxy to download Skyfire as:
“Currently, Skyfire is only supported in the US on Windows Mobile and Symbian platforms. To participate, you need a Windows Mobile (5 or 6), or a Nokia N or E series (3rd edition) phone.”
