Complaints about watching tv online include, I am not in the right country and I can’t watch tv online. Thanks to terrestrial restrictions, you do have to be born in the ‘right’ country to watch tv online legally. Those channels that pay for shows are usually from the USA and are paid by advertisers that happen to also be mainly US focused. The british are also guilty with their BBC service, limited to the UK only. Watching TV online does have borders, it’s just annoying to those who find that the rest of the internet doesn’t have boarders.
The internet was supposed to be the place that is border free, where you have equal access to everything no matter where you live. But, as we have seen with watching TV online, there does still exist some borders between various countries and their internet.
Fortunately we do have a few solutions including programs that trick various internet tv providers by hiding your country of origin to being the USA. Still many complain of the fact that they have to do so many work arounds where as internet tv should just be global and free.
Hulu as we all know is IP restricted as well as most of the major networks including NBC, ABC, Fox, and CBS. Using programs such as TVU Player we have been able to watch a few major network channels like FOx, CBS and Comedy Central (good enough for our tv fix while abroad).
