Netflix streaming movies is now open for the Mac. Now Mac users too can take full advantage of Netflix service. Now we just hope Netflix streaming movies will come to smart phones, like the iPhone and windows mobile so everyone can join in anytime to Netflix.
According now to the Netflix “Watch Instantly” System Compatibility page:
“Apple does not license their DRM solution to third parties, which has made this more difficult, but we are working with the studios and content owners to gain approval for other solutions. As soon as a studio-approved DRM for the Mac is available to us, whether from Apple or another source, we will move quickly to provide a movie viewer that enables you to watch movies from Netflix instantly on your Mac.”
However before you get excited keep in mind that: The netflix service for Macs currently is only available to a small percentage of new Netflix subscribers, and it works only on Intel-based Macs.
Until then, maybe it’s a reason to either get a setup box compatible with Netflix, or to keep a windows pc handy (or run the dreaded Windows Vista on your mac).
