So what exactly is Coronation Street about?

Coronation Street focuses on the everyday lives of working class people in Manchester, England.  It has gone through a number of changes throughout the years including different sets. Interestingly enough, the show was transmitted in black and white for the majority of the 1960s, preparations were made to film episode 923 (transmitted Wednesday October 29, 1969), which featured the street residents on a coach trip to the Lake District, in colour.
