MTV has opened up a music portal for music videos, to become the so called Hulu of the music video world, but restrictions do apply.  MTV can get away with hosting some of the newest and legal music videos of any site, since they are a music television station, though the music part seems to have disappeared, with so many lame reality shows.  In any case, the point is that MTV is launching it’s own music video portal.

IP Restrictions for MTV Music Videos?

Restrictions do apply to this new mtv music video portal.  Suprisingly, only US citizens can watch the music videos online.  So just like Hulu, MTV will limit users based on IP.  Seems like a great way to greatly reduce the number of visitors to their site. But, if Hulu can get away with it, maybe MTV can too.  Everyone else will just have to continue to use YouTube to get their music videos, or use Yahoo Music as we often have.

Currently, since the new MTV music site is new, there is only a limited amount of actual artists on the site, we’ve found at least a few hours of content available.
