The plot of Ballad of a Shinigami is about a young-looking girl named Momo who just happens to be a death god. Momo wears all white, has long white hair and leads deceased souls to the other side. Along with Momo is a black cat named Daniel who can talk (as depicted in the book). However in the anime series Daniel is a young boy.

Ballad of a Shinigami episodes first aired on WOWOW in Japan between March 3, 2006 and April 7, 2006, containing six episodes.
