For some the DTV Digital Transition Switch will happen today. At midnight tonight, 641 stations in the U.S. (36 percent of the country) will shut off their analog broadcast signal. There is still an estimated 5.1 percent of U.S. homes not ready for the DTV Digital Transitition switch.
How Important Is Having TV?
The way this whole digital transition switch is turning out, it’s making us question just really how important tv really is. Just because a mere 5% will have their analog switch off does that really mean pushing back the date for this switch? In fact the coupon program ran out of money. So they are pumping more of the US tax dollars to pay for coupons so that people can get their beloved tv working. Maybe this really is a society focused on television a bit too much.
The FCC’s DTV call center (1-888-CALL-FCC), along with some industry partners, has 4,300 operators standing by to offer assistance.
