The sequel series was called Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai, and aired in Japan between July 6, 2007 and December 17, 2007.
In Higurashi no Naku Koro ni is about a transfer student named Maebara Keiichi. He makes friends with a few clasemates. They assumingly form a club an play all sorts of games, anywhere from card, boardgames,to the classic hide and seek. Though Keiichi was getting adjusted to his now life, thigns change when he stumbles upon the dark history of Hinamizawa. Now Keiichi dives deeper into the mystery. His new friends may not be all what they claim to be.
