The plot to Monochrome Factor begins with the story of high school student Akira Nikaido. Akira is basically a slacker living basically a more than usual life. Things change the day he meets this strange old man that tells the boy to meet him at the school that night. This very night he gets attacke by a shadow monsters. The man then convinces him that there is an imbalance between the human and the shadow world and that this boy must become a “shin”. A “shin” is a create of the shadow world which is meant to help restore the broken balance.
