In Monster Rancher we find a civilization that was once highly advanced. They were skilled at manipulating genetics and used their skills to develop special designer pets and store their genetic information on discs. They were able to regenerate these animals in special locations. After these creatures were turned into weapons, the society eventually destroyed itself. Now once again humans started to discover basic technology. In the process however, they discovered these discs and regeneration locations. Out of these monsters they created something called Monster Breeding. Here Breeders raised monsters to compete it special tournaments.
