The documentary Before the Music Dies is now online to watch in full. Before the Music Dies first was shown March 12, 2006 at the South by Southwest film festival in Austin, Texas.
In Before the Music Dies, it explores the reason why so few companies currently control the music played on the radio and for sale at retail stores, and whether corporations really have the power to silence musical innovation. The documentary goes on to critize the music business and how it commercializes everything. “The reality is that superficiality is in,” says Marsalis. “And depth and quality is kind of out.”
