Not all bad things happened out of the writers strike, Strike TV is launching with a collection of 40 shows that were inspired out of the writers strike.

Variety reported that the shows for the initial release will be:
- “Global Warming,” starring “Saturday Night Live’s” Kirsten Wiig and “Daily Show’s” Aasif Mandvi;
- “Unknown Sender,” penned by Steven de Souza and starring Timothy Dalton and Joanne Whalley;
- “House Poor,” created by “Office” writer-producer Lester Lewis;
- “The Challenge,” starring Bob Newhart and penned by sitcom vet Lloyd Garver;
- “Five or Die,” written and directed by horror movie vet Tom Holland;
- “John’s Hand,” starring Garret Dillahunt and Kali Rocha.

We like the fact that Strike TV will donate it’s first three months earnings, though as anyone knows the first three months are usually the lowest earning months. The cost before launch has been less than 10 grand due to the fact that producers of the shows absorb all the costs.

Three months and 25 days was the average wait time to go from theater to dvd in 2007 according to an article from the La Times in 2007.  The article went further on to say that a “factor is that movies now generally have much shorter box-office runs than they once did. That’s because studio films usually open on thousands of screens to generate big opening weekend receipts, then are quickly replaced with newer releases the moment they taper off. With flops, theaters pull the plug even sooner.”

We can only expect this amount to shorten in the future as theaters will be able to release their content for online downloads.

So far Fields of Glory from Mojo has covered 10 different football fields from all different colleges.

If you are not into football, Fields of Glory still manages to make the show interesting even for the non follower.  They’ll talk about the University, the impact of the team, as well as history of the stadium.  It’s not only about football.

What we think about DoggySpace
The layout is pretty basic, but it’s quite easy to find videos.  As a social networking site it’s a bit lacking, though they do list some dog profiles on the frontpage.  The colors and the logo sort of remind us of Digg.  DoggySpace is pretty easy to navigate so if you’ve got a dog this might be a great place to start getting your dog on the world wide web.

Something DoggySpace should have learned… is that making it easy for users to embed your videos on their websites will bring more traffic. Would YouTube be where it is today without that embed option? No. While it is possible to “steal” videos off DoggySpace’s website, you’ll have to look in their html code to do it.

In order to cut down on the bill and increase profits, it’s Viral show wasn’t even properly monetized, ending up being more of a loss than a gain, Veoh is even blocking access to the site from all but it’s most-trafficked countries.

Veoh isn’t the only one making cuts, Seesmic du Jour another inhouse production from Seesmic also just canceled it’s series. (They’ve got nice French accents.)

With an end to their own in house entertainment these videos sites will be less focused on promoting their own inhouse material and just more interested in encouraging users to submit their own videos and promoting those. It’s a whole lot cheaper than generating your own material and shows.

Sony is trying to make up for such losses as their loss of making an mp3 that might be popular, by creating internet enabled Bravia Tvs hoping for it to be the next big thing.  But, shouldn’t Sony learn that when you limit your application to just who can use it, you might end up with bad results?

As TechDirt put it “By now, you would think the industry would recognize that proprietary solutions that only play on a particular piece of hardware tend not to be a very good solution, and actually scare off buyers who don’t want to get stuck having bet on the wrong horse. But, apparently, someone forgot to tell all of these guys working on their own proprietary movie download solutions.”

Dexter - Dexter is a forensic blood spatter expert for the Miami Dade Police Department. He is the main support for his sister. He has a steady girlfriend, with two kids who adore him. He also has an active “night life”.

Brotherhood - Follows the lives of two brothers in the Providence, Rhode Island Irish-American neighborhood known as “The Hill”. The blue-collar neighborhood has roots in old-world ways of street justice and shady dealings.

Californication - David Duchovny heads up the cast in this comedy about a novelist with sex and drug addictions who is struggling to raise his daughter half the time, while having problems with his ex-girlfriend.

The L Word - The intimate story about the lives and loves of a group of lesbian friends living in Los Angeles. The show has received a lot of praise for its brilliant storylines and its portrayal of the lesbian community.

Penn and Teller - Well-known magicians, Penn and Teller, are here to knock some sense into people in a humorous and informal way and to explain why some things in life are just plain bullsh**.

This American Life - . Drawing on compelling stories from everyday folks culled from six months on the road, host Ira Glass and company create a specific brand of radio and television entertainment that is uniquely American.

tracy ullman state of the union - Tracey Ullman brings her unique brand of comedy to Showtime in this new weekly sketch comedy series that takes a satirical look at America and it’s non-stop obsession with the lives of celebrities.

The Tudors - Focuses on the life and romances of the young King Henry VIII. The first series takes a look at the often overlooked, early political relationships as well as Henry’s trysts with such notable women as Katherine of Aragon and Anne Boleyn.

A fist means starts and by giving a sort of half Natzi salute you’ll be able to power it on.  The scientist do say that it can distinguish between your hand and running children and pets.
